Connect your Telegram account, configure channel settings, and manage Telegram contacts within SkyLight Chat.

Telegram

Engage customers on Telegram with the same unified inbox, AI agents, and campaign tools you use for WhatsApp. This guide covers connecting your Telegram account, adjusting settings, and managing Telegram-specific contacts.


Purpose

Telegram integration brings your Telegram conversations into SkyLight Chat so you can:

  • Centralize messaging — handle Telegram and WhatsApp in one inbox.
  • Deploy AI agents — automate replies using your knowledge base.
  • Run campaigns — broadcast to Telegram contacts (where applicable).
  • Track conversations — see full chat history and contact profiles.
  • Collaborate — assign chats to team members, add notes, and transfer between agents.

Prerequisites

  1. Telegram account — a personal or business Telegram account to link.
  2. Telegram app installed — needed to scan the connection QR code.
  3. Plan with Telegram access — verify your subscription includes Telegram channel support.

Full walkthrough

Connecting Telegram

  1. Go to Channels → Telegram.
  2. Click Connect Telegram.
  3. A QR code appears on screen.
  4. Open Telegram on your phone → Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device.
  5. Scan the QR code with the Telegram app.
  6. Wait 5–15 seconds; the status changes to Connecting, then Connected.

Once connected, your Telegram conversations sync into the SkyLight Chat inbox.

Verifying connection status

Click Refresh to pull the latest status from the server.

Configuring Telegram settings

  1. Open the Settings tab under Channels → Telegram.
  2. Adjust:
    • Display Name — label shown in the inbox (e.g., Support Bot).
    • Auto-Reply — enable to have the AI agent respond automatically.
    • Assigned AI Agent — select which agent profile handles Telegram chats.
    • Notifications — toggle browser and email alerts for new messages.
  3. Click Save.

Managing Telegram contacts

Telegram contacts appear automatically when someone messages you. To add a contact manually:

  1. Go to the Contacts tab.
  2. Click + Add Contact.
  3. Enter:
    • Name (required)
    • Phone (required, E.164 format)
    • Email (optional)
  4. Select Type = Telegram.
  5. Click Save.

You can tag, list, and segment Telegram contacts just like WhatsApp contacts.

Disconnecting Telegram

  1. Go to Channels → Telegram.
  2. Click Disconnect.
  3. Confirm the dialog.

Disconnecting removes the Telegram session from SkyLight Chat. Your Telegram account remains active on your phone. To reconnect, repeat the QR code flow.

Telegram-specific rate limits follow platform policies; SkyLight Chat does not impose additional sending caps beyond plan quotas.
